The impact of computer networking technology on businesses
Networking technology has changed the way people used to work in an organization. A few years back, computers of an organization had no connection with each other and the person working on one computer had no clear knowledge of the data residing on the other computers under the same roof. Sometimes it happened that a person used outdated data. Also, file sharing among the computers was not possible. But thanks to networking technology that it has solved this problem for us. Today, instead of working separately and disconnected from each other, the computers in an organization are connected to each other through networking. By coming in connection with each other they can effectively share data with each other.An organization which is using networking technology, stores its data in a central location ‘the server’ to which all the computers of an organization are connected and have access to that data. In this way the data stored there is more secure and safe from being damages by viruses or being deleted. Data updated by one person can be used by the other and hence there is no problem of using out dated data or data redundancy.
People working in an office can share files with each other without needing to use the traditional data transfer devices like USBs. This saves a lot of time of the workers and drastically increases their working speed.
Work group computing:
This term has evolved only due to the introduction of networking technology. It means that the computers connected via networking can be used to work on the same project or document concurrently and sharing the results with each other. The results and calculations of produced on one computer can be used by the other at the same time. In this way the work speed of the workers and their production speed are increased.The networking technology has helped the workers of an office to communicate with each other in a more efficient way. The can send electronic mails within the network.
Resource sharing made possible by networking technology
Sometimes it becomes a bit difficult for an organization to provide scanners, printers and other such type of gadgets to each worker. This problem has efficiently been solved by networking technology. Now the computers inter connected via networking can share a printer or a scanner with each other. So, a person sitting in one office and not having a printer can get his document printed in the other office.
Even now, networking technology has provided us wireless system of networking. Now there is no need of building a physical connection among the computers of an organization for networking. By just attaching a Wi-Fi card with a computer, it can be attached to the network without needing to build a physical connection of that computer with other computers of the organization by using networking cable.
There is no doubt in saying that networking technology has proven to be a gift for the office workers and the organizations. Today, the change which we see in the structure of organizations is had never been possible without networking technology.
